Thursday

by Catherine Storr

Thursday Townsend has been missing for a week when Bee hears it from the school authorities. Fifteen-year-old Bee, just recovering from a serious illness, begins her private search for the unwanted boy she and her family have befriended. She finds him, but in a strange and frightening way Thursday is still lost to her. The authorities put Thursday in a mental hospital for treatment. Bee visits him and realizes that only by showing him she loves him, and by forcing him to accept her love, can she bring him out of the private world into which he has retreated. In a dramatic encounter on Midsummer Night's Eve, Bee is able to pull the withdrawn Thursday back into the real world.
