The Further Adventures of Puss In Boots
by Nicholas Stuart Gray
What became of Puss in Boots after he had disposed of the ogre and
married his master to the Princess? At first he had a splendid time
-- the softest bed and the richest cream in the Palace. Then,
suddenly, there was a new pet at court -- a pink, noisy, horrible
baby. Puss took action. First he hid, and then, when everyone was
thoroughly alarmed about him, he re-appeared to announce that he was
going to seek his fortune. And he went. There were times,
particularly when he was hungry or tired or lonely, when he regretted
the home comforts he had left. But whether he was confronting a
hungry lion in an African jungle, or whirling down a river on a log,
or being sold as a slave to a sultan, Puss was not only equal to the
situation; he was prepared to take charge of everyone he met just as
he had taken charge of his master in the old days -- and just as
successfully.
